Applicants may request a fee waiver via the Fee Waiver Request Form. The Enrollment Management Office will begin reviewing fee waiver requests for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle on September 1, 2023. The Office will provide updates regarding students’ fee waiver status via email. All fee waivers requests must be submitted on or before WVU Law’s priority application deadline of March 15, 2024.
LSAC Need-Based Fee Waiver
The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) offers two different need-based fee waivers to applicants who are financially under-resourced, with the goal of increasing equity and access to the legal profession. WVU Law will grant an application fee waiver to any applicant who has received a need-based fee waiver from LSAC.
Need-Based Fee Waiver
Applicants who do not obtain a fee waiver from LSAC may request a need-based application fee waiver directly from WVU Law via the Fee Waiver Request Form. Please note that while the application fee is waived, WVU Law cannot waive fees associated with services rendered by LSAC (i.e., submitting CAS reports, sitting for the LSAT, etc.).
Service-Based Fee Waiver
WVU Law encourages applications from those who have completed one or more years of full-time service with organizations such as the United States military, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or Teach For America and is happy to waive their application fee via the Fee Waiver Request Form.
Merit-Based Fee Waiver
WVU Law grants merit-based fee waivers through the LSAC Candidate Referral Service (CRS) via select criteria. The Enrollment Management Office will contact students via email if their application fee has been waived. To be eligible, students must participate in CRS, indicate to LSAC that the student intends to enroll for the current admissions cycle, have at least one LSAT score on file, and have transcripts on file. The Enrollment Management Office updates CRS searches on a monthly basis.
Applicants who do not receive a merit-based fee waiver through CRS but believe their academic qualifications merit a fee waiver may request a fee waiver via the Fee Waiver Request Form.
