The dates below are intended to provide a general overview of the timing of the admissions and financial aid cycle. Many of these dates are estimates and will vary from year-to-year. Please only use this as a general guide. Admitted students should consult the Enrollment Management Office for more information.

  • September 15 — WVU College of Law begins accepting JD applications on September 15 for the following year’s entering class.
  • October 1 — Applicants can start completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on October 1. The FAFSA may be completed online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa and is required for all federal loans.

    WVU College of Law’s Federal School Code is 003827.
  • January — JD applicants who were accepted to WVU College of Law will begin receiving their scholarship notifications in mid-to-late January. The exact date will vary from year-to-year.
  • March 1 — The deadline for submitting the FAFSA to receive priority consideration for financial assistance is March 1.
  • March 15 — The priority deadline to submit a JD application to WVU College of Law is March 15. The JD application will continue to be available until July 15.

    Around this time, Student Financial Services will begin notifying JD applicants who submitted the FAFSA by the March 1 priority deadline and have no unsatisfied requirements of their loan awards.
  • April 1 —WVU College of Law begins accepting transfer applications. 
  • July 15 —The deadline to submit a JD application to WVU College of Law is July 15.
        July 15 is also the deadline to submit a transfer application to WVU
       College of Law.
